Ipoh kopitiam is the passion of Steven leong and wife Vivian. The coupled ventured into the restaurant business after being encouraged by friends and family who knew about their knack for making tasty dishes and great coffee.
Incorporating ipoh kopitiam foods, they set off to create a menu of authentic traditional ipoh style dishes including the unique ipoh coffee. Using closely guarded methods to prepare the grounded coffee beans, with just the right amount of each ingredient.
Steven, an ipoh born and bred, developed a set of standard operating procedures to train his chefs and cooks in the kitchen. All recipes, ingredients used, special methods and techniques are supervised closely to achieve consistent quality and presentation. The dishes served are constantly monitored and customer feedback is taken to heart.
Hailed as one of the pioneers of halal Cantonese cooking, Ipoh Kopitiam was also featured in RTM’s ‘Jom Minum’ show, a TV series about good food and good drinks in Malaysia. The resulting positive reception inspired the company to expand into creating multiple outlets by licensing their recipes and methods.
Ipoh kopitiam is now embarking on an expansion programme and is actively helping potential new business owners set up their very own ipoh kopitiam with the tried and tested methods used by Steven and Vivian.
